Marvel’s newest superhero movie is about what it means to be black in both America and Africa—and, more broadly, in the world. Thrilling, moving, provocative and funny, this $900-million phenomenon continues to upend the white-bread business of blockbustering. Chadwick Boseman (Marshall) gives a magnetic, slow-burning performance as the African king/superhero with terrific support from an all-star cast (Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker).
