Sociology Major selected as AERA fellow

Sociology major Alexis Castillo ’19 was selected as an AERA Undergraduate Student Education Research Training Fellow. Alexis attended the 2019 AERA (American Educational Research Association) annual meeting in Toronto, Canada in April. She participated in several days of workshops, mentoring and other programs with a small cohort of other fellows. Alexis also presented research from her Senior Independent Study “Analyzing the sense of belonging of first generation college students of color attending an elite predominantly white institution,” which she completed in Winter Term 2019 with her advisor Professor Janice McCabe.
