Assistant Professor Faculty Position Available

The Department of Sociology invites applications for a full-time appointment at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level beginning fall 2017. For this position, we seek sociologists with a PhD and expertise in inequality, broadly construed.  Special consideration will be given to candidates engaged in Asian-American studies as well as those who build on existing strengths in the department, including race/ethnicity, political/economic sociology, sociology of health/medicine, and social psychology.  The successful applicant will be expected to teach one of the introductory courses or social theory at the undergraduate level.  We will begin reviewing applications on September 15, 2016.  Dartmouth has a strong commitment to supporting both quality research and teaching. This goal is facilitated by the school’s quarter system, which allows the four course annual classroom teaching load to be covered in two 10-week terms with a third term in residence for research and other departmental obligations and a fourth term off.  For more information about the department, see: http://sociology.dartmouth.edu/.  Please upload curriculum vitae, a statement of current research and teaching interests, two samples of written work, a summary of teaching evaluations, and three letters of reference at apply.interfolio.com/36604. Dartmouth College is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. We prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, veteran status, marital status, or any other legally protected status.  Applications by members of all underrepresented groups are encouraged.
