What I'm most interested in as a sociologist is the unexpected ways that power is produced and challenged by different social groups. I'm currently engaged in two research projects. One looks at some of the millions of Indian workers who have joined the labor union of the immensely powerful Hindu right-wing and the other is a world-historical study of social protest in India, from the 19th century to the present.
