Cyber Warfare and Cyber Defense

Spaulding Auditorium, Hopkins Center for the Arts
Intended Audience(s): Public
Categories: Free Food, Lectures & Seminars

Cyber warfare between nations has been highlighted during our recent presidential campaign with the hacking of campaign offices in the attempt to influence the outcome of the election. Criminal hacking takes place daily for purposes of monetary gain and theft of business secrets. Our personal computers are inherently vulnerable to hacking and theft of data. Chris Inglis will describe the foundations and trends underlying the cyber contests taking place in and through cyberspace. He will discuss the challenges of defending national, business, and personal security and suggest strategies to address each in a world increasingly dependent on cyberspace.

CHRIS INGLIS, Former Deputy Director, NSA
Mr. Inglis served as the deputy director of the National Security Agency from 2006-2014, a position that is equivalent to the Chief Operating Officer of a large, technically complex corporation. He is widely regarded as the principal U.S. expert on cyber warfare and cyber defense issues. Since retirement from NSA, Mr. Inglis has been in high demand by both industry and government organizations for advice on intelligence and cyber warfare and defense matters. He currently serves on the Defense Science Board and the U.S. Strategic Command’s Strategic Advisory Board, chairing the Commander’s Intelligence Panel. He also sits on boards and panels of six U.S. companies and corporations.
