The 1619 Project is a long-form journalism endeavor developed by Nikole Hannah-Jones and writers from The New York Times and The New York Times Magazine. On the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved people to colonial Virginia, the project dedicated the August 2019 issue of the magazine to a re-examination of the legacy of slavery in the United States. Hannah-Jones was awarded the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Commentary for her introductory essay. Subsequent project endeavors have included a broadsheet, live events, a podcast and books. 

Join us for an evening with creator and writer Nikole Hannah-Jones as she discusses The 1619 Project today and the release of her two new books on the subject. She will be joined by Dartmouth artists and faculty.
